Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

In connection with Mark G. Holladay’s previously announced retirement as Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer of Synovus Financial Corp. (the “Company”) and Synovus Bank (the “Bank), the Boards of Directors of the Company and the Bank have appointed Angie Lewis as Interim Chief Risk Officer, with such appointment and Mr. Holladay’s retirement effective March 31, 2022. Ms. Lewis currently serves as the Executive Director, Enterprise Risk of the Company and the Bank and shall serve as Interim Chief Risk Officer until such time as a permanent successor is named.
