Explanation of Responses:

1. Represents shares of Common Stock, par value $0.01 per share (the "Common Stock") of Charah Solutions, Inc. (the "Issuer") owned by the Krieger Charitable Trust, the HCK Grandchildren 2022 Two-Year GRAT and Common Stock of the Issuer held indirectly by the Reporting Person pursuant to a power of attorney in favor of the Reporting Person. The Reporting Person disclaims beneficial ownership of these securities, and this report shall not be deemed a n admission that the Reporting Person is the beneficial owner of the securities for purposes of Section 16 or for any other purpose.

2. Represents the average sale price. The actual sales prices range from $5.88 to $5.90 per share. The Reporting Person will supply the SEC, the Issuer, or a security holder of the Issuer, with full information regarding the number of shares of Common Stock at each price upon request.

3. Represents the average sale price. The actual sales prices range from $5.85 to $5.89 per share. The Reporting Person will supply the SEC, the Issuer, or a security holder of the Issuer, with full information regarding the number of shares of Common Stock at each price upon request.
