Upcoming ISG Provider Lens^® reports will evaluate AI-enabled services for core modernization, payment transformation and efficient operations

Information Services Group (ISG) (Nasdaq: III), a global AI-centered technology research and advisory firm, has launched a research study examining providers that help banks manage complex legacy technologies and strengthen resilience as AI and automation reshape bank operations.

The study results will be published in a series of comprehensive ISG Provider Lens^® reports, called Banking Technology and Services, scheduled to be released in December 2026. The reports will assess strategic advisory services, managed services, business process as a service (BPaaS) and services for modernization of core banking and payment systems. It will include dedicated coverage of midmarket providers. The study focuses on companies that deliver technology and operational services to banks, not software-only providers.

Enterprise buyers will be able to use the insights from the reports to evaluate their current vendor relationships, identify potential new engagements and compare available offerings. ISG advisors will use the research to guide clients through increasingly complex transformation and platform investment decisions.

Banks face growing pressure to modernize without adding unnecessary complexity. Legacy core systems and fragmented payment platforms make transformation expensive and difficult to coordinate, while manual processes limit operational efficiency. Demand for resilient services, faster payments and stronger compliance is rising as AI and automation change how banking work is performed. Large banks need support for complex programs, while midmarket institutions seek similar capabilities through delivery and pricing models suited to their scale.

ISG has distributed surveys to more than 240 banking technology and services providers. Working in collaboration with ISG’s global advisors, the research team will produce six quadrants representing the services banks typically buy, based on ISG’s experience working with its clients. The six quadrants are:

Core Banking Technology and Integration Services, evaluating providers that implement, modernize and integrate core banking systems. The quadrant considers their ability to connect legacy and modern platforms, support cloud migration and use automation or AI-enabled tools to improve delivery quality.
Core Banking Technology and Integration Services — Midmarket Providers, assessing midsize and specialist providers that help banks modernize systems with flexible, practical delivery models. Providers are evaluated on domain expertise, implementation speed and services suited to institutions that do not require large-enterprise transformation programs.
Payment Modernization Technology Services, covering providers that help banks update payment platforms and respond to changing market requirements. The quadrant assesses services for real-time payments, ISO 20022 migration and payment orchestration, together with capabilities that strengthen fraud and risk controls.
Banking BPaaS, evaluating providers that combine business process-as-a-service platforms with managed services to carry out banking processes. The quadrant considers how providers standardize fragmented workflows, strengthen compliance and improve efficiency through scalable operating models and AI-enabled capabilities.
Managed Services for Midmarket Banks, assessing providers that deliver managed banking services and platform-enabled operating models for midmarket institutions. Providers are evaluated on their ability to offer right-sized delivery, streamline implementation and support banks with limited internal resources.
Strategy and Technology Advisory Services, covering providers that help banks establish modernization priorities, redesign operating models and make complex technology decisions. The quadrant assesses advisory capabilities spanning transformation roadmaps, program governance and responsible AI strategy.

Geographically focused reports from the study will examine the global banking technology and services market and examine products and services available in the U.S. and Canada, Europe and Brazil.
