New business line broadens Assurant’s capabilities in Chile, creating new opportunities to serve consumers and strategic partners

Assurant, Inc. (NYSE:AIZ), a global company that redefines the boundaries of protection – safeguarding and servicing connected devices, homes, automobiles, and commercial equipment in partnership with some of the world’s leading brands, today announced the launch of the new business line Financial Services Ecosystem Protection in Chile.

This addition expands the company's capabilities in the local market and comes alongside the appointment of Ricardo Laso as President of the Andean Region, strengthening the leadership team as Assurant pursues new opportunities in Chile and across Colombia and Perú.

With more than 15 years of experience in Chile offering protection solutions for connected devices, homes, and automobiles, this new business line will enable Assurant to offer protection solutions designed to address risk associated with payments, purchases, fraud, and other everyday financial risks. These capabilities include solutions related to vehicle financing and complementary protection programs designed to provide greater peace of mind to consumers and strategic partners throughout the entire lifecycle of a transaction. These solutions can be tailored to various distribution and collaboration models, including insurance, reinsurance, and other structures designed to support the needs of strategic partners across a wide range of industries.

The launch responds to the evolution of the financial ecosystem and new ways consumers interact with services. Today, people access financial products through banks, issuers, digital wallets, marketplaces, and other digital platforms, driving demand for simpler, faster, and more connected experiences.

"Digital transformation is redefining the way people interact with financial services. In Chile, more than 7.7 billion digital payments were made over the past twelve months according to the Central Bank, with individuals over the age of 15 averaging 435 digital payments per year. This evolution gives us an opportunity to address a broader set of customer needs while helping our partners deliver stronger, more relevant customer propositions. With this new line of business, we combine our expertise in protection, digital capabilities, and flexible business models to support that transformation. Assurant’s global scale and experience currently serve more than 325 million consumers across 21 countries, including protection solutions for more than 57 million vehicles, 68 million mobile devices, and 128 million appliances and consumer electronics worldwide," affirmed Ricardo Laso, President, Andean Region, Assurant.

Following Fernando D’Amico’s promotion to VP, Strategic Initiatives and Execution, Latin America, Laso assumes leadership of the Andean Region with 13 years at Assurant and experience spanning actuarial and business leadership roles. He will lead the business as it expands its capabilities, strengthens strategic partnerships, and pursues its next phase of growth in the region.

"Chile continues to be an important market for growth in Latin America. The addition of this new business line expands our capabilities to support strategic partners with innovative solutions that address the evolving needs of today's market, further strengthening our commitment to delivering value for consumers and clients across the region," said Ricardo Fiuza, President, Latin America, Assurant.

As consumer and business needs continue to evolve, Assurant is expanding its ecosystem of solutions to support strategic partners through increasingly relevant offerings, strengthening its position in Chile and contributing to the region’s sustainable growth.
