Item 8.01. Other Events.

On April 15, 2026, Arbutus Biopharma Corporation issued a press release announcing that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) has granted Fast Track designation for imdusiran for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. The FDA’s Fast Track program is designed to facilitate the development and expedite the review of investigational therapies to treat serious conditions with unmet medical need. A copy of the press release is filed herewith as Exhibit 99.1 hereto and is incorporated by reference herein.
